Find Discord’s authenticator setting
On desktop, open the gear beside your username, then User Settings → My Account → Password and Authentication → Enable Authenticator App.
On mobile, open your avatar, then the settings gear and Account → Enable Authenticator App. Complete Discord’s password check if requested.
Add Discord to Sign In
You can use Sign In, our authenticator app for codes on your iPhone.
- With the setup QR code on another screen, open Sign In and tap Add → Scan QR Code.
- Scan the code, review the account details, and tap Add Account.
- Return to Discord, enter your current code under Login with your code, and choose Activate.
Discord shows a QR code in its desktop flow and a secret key in its mobile flow. Use the secret key when setting up on the same iPhone. In Sign In, choose Add → Enter Setup Key, set Service to Discord and Account to your account name, paste the secret into Key, then tap Add Account. Keep this key private.
Save Discord’s backup codes
Download your backup codes after enrollment. You can also find View Backup Codes in My Account and confirm your password. Store them securely outside your phone.
These eight-digit codes are single-use. They can help you sign in, but do not replace the required authentication for every sensitive account action.
Add another method if useful
Discord supports passkeys and security keys, which provide phishing-resistant sign-in. SMS can be added as a backup after authenticator setup; it depends on access to your phone number.
If you are locked out
Choose Verify with something else → Use a backup code, or use SMS if you previously enabled it. Keep any remaining signed-in session while checking recovery options.
If you have no usable authenticator, backup code, or configured fallback, Discord Support cannot remove MFA or issue replacement backup codes.
If a code does not work
Make sure the Discord entry in Sign In matches the account you are using. Wait for a fresh code, then enter it before it changes. If fresh codes keep failing, check that your iPhone uses automatic date and time.
Keep a working sign-in session and your recovery information available while resolving the problem. Adding an entry to Sign In does not finish enrollment: the service must accept a code and confirm activation.
