Find two-factor authentication
- On LinkedIn’s website, choose Me → Settings & Privacy.
- Open Sign in & security → Two-factor authentication.
- Choose Set up or turn the feature on, select Authenticator App, and continue.
- Complete any password, email-code, or existing-app verification LinkedIn requests before showing the secret key.
In the mobile app, start from your profile picture and settings, then the same sign-in and security section.
Add LinkedIn to Sign In
For iPhone verification codes, we recommend Sign In, our authenticator app. The codes are generated on your device.
- Copy the secret key displayed by LinkedIn.
- In Sign In, tap Add → Enter Setup Key.
- Use LinkedIn as the Service and your email as a recognizable Account label. Paste the secret into Key.
- Review the details and tap Add Account.
- Return to LinkedIn and enter the current six-digit code from Sign In. Finish the confirmation and check that 2FA is enabled.
If your setup offers a QR code on another screen, you can scan it with Add → Scan QR Code instead. Keep the setup key private.
Other verification options
LinkedIn also offers SMS verification. It depends on access to your phone number and mobile service. In some signed-in mobile sessions, LinkedIn may send an approval prompt instead of asking for a code; only approve sign-ins you started.
Recruiter, Campaign Manager, and Sales Navigator require 2FA on the associated LinkedIn account. Keep that in mind when changing your verification settings.
Changing phones or losing access
Before replacing your phone, confirm you can still access LinkedIn and its verification settings. Do not erase your only working code entry before arranging access on the replacement device.
If you cannot supply a code, follow LinkedIn’s lost-device recovery instructions. An existing signed-in session may let you change the setup after verification. If you are signed out, the code screen can offer verify your identity; follow the official identity-check process. It may require identification.
If verification fails
Check the LinkedIn account label in Sign In and enter a freshly generated code. Confirm that your iPhone’s date and time are set automatically.
If you did not finish enrollment, return to LinkedIn’s setup and complete the code confirmation. A Sign In entry alone does not enable protection on LinkedIn. Losing a code entry requires restoring valid access or using LinkedIn’s recovery flow; reinstalling an app alone does not recreate the secret.
