NETLIFY ACCOUNT GUIDE

How to enable 2FA on Netlify

Netlify supports authenticator codes for your personal login. Your two-factor setting applies across the teams you belong to; organization sign-in policies may add their own requirements.

Start Netlify enrollment

  1. Open your avatar menu in Netlify and choose User settings → Security.
  2. Find Two-factor authentication and choose Enable.
  3. Continue to the authenticator setup screen.

Add Netlify to Sign In

You can use Sign In, our authenticator app for codes on your iPhone.

  1. With the setup QR code on another screen, open Sign In and tap Add → Scan QR Code.
  2. Scan the code, review the account details, and tap Add Account.
  3. Enter the current six-digit code in Netlify. Choose Next: Recovery codes, save the codes, then select Finished! I saved my codes.

Choose Manual entry on Netlify if you need the setup key. In Sign In, choose Add → Enter Setup Key, set Service to Netlify and Account to your account name, paste the secret into Key, then tap Add Account. Keep this key private.

Save the codes before finishing

Netlify displays recovery codes once during setup. Copy or print them and store them securely somewhere accessible without your phone. Each code works once.

Use an unused recovery code if your authenticator is unavailable. If you cannot recover access, follow Netlify’s support process; do not assume a team owner can bypass your personal account protection.

If a code does not work

Make sure the Netlify entry in Sign In matches the account you are using. Wait for a fresh code, then enter it before it changes. If fresh codes keep failing, check that your iPhone uses automatic date and time.

Keep a working sign-in session and your recovery information available while resolving the problem. Adding an entry to Sign In does not finish enrollment: the service must accept a code and confirm activation.
