Open your login settings
In Basecamp 5, click your profile picture, then Account & Settings → Profile, password, 2FA → Change your login info.
You can also open Login & Security from the 37signals Launchpad. Choose Set up 2FA and follow the prompts.
Add Basecamp to Sign In
Use Sign In, our authenticator app, for codes on your iPhone.
- If the service displays an enrollment QR code on another screen, open Sign In and tap Add → Scan QR Code.
- If it offers a setup key instead, choose Add → Enter Setup Key. Label Service as Basecamp and Account with your account name, then paste the secret into Key.
- Review the entry and tap Add Account.
- Enter the current code in Basecamp when requested, finish activation, and save your recovery codes.
Keep the setup key private. If you only have one iPhone and no manual key is offered, open the enrollment page on a second screen.
Keep recovery codes accessible
Save your recovery codes securely outside your phone. If you lose access to your authenticator, use a recovery code to sign in.
If another browser is still signed in, open your login settings to view recovery codes or reconfigure two-factor authentication. If entirely locked out, follow the official recovery help below. An account owner or admin may assist, but cannot deactivate 2FA directly for a user who belongs to multiple accounts.
Add a security key
After enabling 2FA, Basecamp supports adding a compatible security key from the login settings. Register it before relying on it as another way to verify your account.
If a code does not work
Make sure the Basecamp entry in Sign In matches the account you are using. Wait for a fresh code, then enter it before it changes. If fresh codes keep failing, check that your iPhone uses automatic date and time.
Keep a working sign-in session and your recovery information available while resolving the problem. Adding an entry to Sign In does not finish enrollment: the service must accept a code and confirm activation.
