TIKTOK ACCOUNT GUIDE

How to enable 2FA on TikTok

TikTok supports authenticator codes as a two-step verification method for your personal account. Add another available method too, and keep its contact details current.

Choose two verification methods

  1. In TikTok, tap Profile → Menu ☰ → Settings and privacy.
  2. Open Security & permissions → 2-step verification.
  3. Select at least two methods, including Authenticator and another available option such as Phone or Email.
  4. Complete each method’s prompts and tap Turn on to confirm.

Add TikTok to Sign In

Use Sign In, our authenticator app, for verification codes on your iPhone.

  1. On TikTok’s authenticator enrollment screen, copy the setup key.
  2. Open Sign In and tap Add → Enter Setup Key. Set Service to TikTok, Account to your username, and paste the secret into Key.
  3. Review the entry and tap Add Account.
  4. Return to TikTok and enter the current code to confirm.

If the QR code is displayed on another screen, you can instead use Add → Scan QR Code. Keep the setup key private.

Keep a recovery method

Save any recovery code supplied during enrollment securely outside your phone. If you lose authenticator access, choose Can’t access the app and follow TikTok’s recovery-code instructions. Use Need more help? if that code is also unavailable; identity verification may take time.

Phone and email verification depend on continued access to those contact methods. Keep both secure and up to date.

If a code does not work

Make sure the TikTok entry in Sign In matches the account you are using. Wait for a fresh code, then enter it before it changes. If fresh codes keep failing, check that your iPhone uses automatic date and time.

Keep a working sign-in session and your recovery information available while resolving the problem. Adding an entry to Sign In does not finish enrollment: the service must accept a code and confirm activation.
