Open Canva’s security settings
- Open your profile menu, then Your account → Account and security.
- Under Security → Multi-Factor Authentication, choose Enable beside Authenticator app.
- Enter your password and confirm.
Add Canva to Sign In
You can use Sign In, our authenticator app for codes on your iPhone.
- With the setup QR code on another screen, open Sign In and tap Add → Scan QR Code.
- Scan the code, review the account details, and tap Add Account.
- Enter the current six-digit code on Canva, choose Enable authenticator app, then save the backup codes before finishing setup.
For setup on the same iPhone, Canva provides Show secret key beneath its QR code. Copy that key for manual entry. In Sign In, choose Add → Enter Setup Key, set Service to Canva and Account to your account name, paste the secret into Key, then tap Add Account. Keep this key private.
Store your backup codes
Choose Copy codes and store them somewhere secure that you can reach without your phone. Each code can be used once.
To generate a replacement set, return to the MFA settings and open Backup codes → Generate or Regenerate. Copy the new set and finish the prompts. Replace your saved old codes.
If you lose access
Use a saved backup code when Canva asks for your second factor. Try another previously configured method if the sign-in screen offers it. If neither works, follow Canva’s MFA recovery guidance.
Some accounts may offer SMS as another method. Only rely on it after confirming it is available and configured on your account.
If a code does not work
Make sure the Canva entry in Sign In matches the account you are using. Wait for a fresh code, then enter it before it changes. If fresh codes keep failing, check that your iPhone uses automatic date and time.
Keep a working sign-in session and your recovery information available while resolving the problem. Adding an entry to Sign In does not finish enrollment: the service must accept a code and confirm activation.
