ASANA ACCOUNT GUIDE

How to enable 2FA on Asana

Asana supports standard authenticator codes alongside your password. You can enable them yourself, or your organization may require enrollment before you continue using its workspace.

Open your account settings

  1. Open My Settings → Account in Asana.
  2. Select Two-Factor Authentication.
  3. Confirm your password to display the enrollment QR code.

Add Asana to Sign In

You can use Sign In, our authenticator app for codes on your iPhone.

  1. With the setup QR code on another screen, open Sign In and tap Add → Scan QR Code.
  2. Scan the code, review the account details, and tap Add Account.
  3. Enter the current code from Sign In in Asana and select Enable. If your organization requires enrollment at sign-in, complete the remaining confirmation prompts.

If the service offers a setup key, you can enter it manually. Otherwise, use a second screen for the QR code. In Sign In, choose Add → Enter Setup Key, set Service to Asana and Account to your account name, paste the secret into Key, then tap Add Account. Keep this key private.

If you lose authenticator access

Contact Asana Support if you cannot complete sign-in. On Enterprise, Enterprise+, and Legacy Enterprise, an administrator can reset a member’s 2FA only when that member belongs to no other domain.

Eligible administrators find the control in Members → Edit profile settings → Security → Two-Factor Authentication. After a reset, enroll your replacement promptly. Do not assume Asana supplies printable backup codes.

Organization and SSO requirements

Supported Enterprise organizations can require 2FA for members and guests. Where SAML or SSO is mandatory, full members use the organization’s sign-in controls, while guests can still be required to enroll Asana 2FA.

Follow the enrollment flow for your account rather than changing company sign-in settings.

If a code does not work

Make sure the Asana entry in Sign In matches the account you are using. Wait for a fresh code, then enter it before it changes. If fresh codes keep failing, check that your iPhone uses automatic date and time.

Keep a working sign-in session and your recovery information available while resolving the problem. Adding an entry to Sign In does not finish enrollment: the service must accept a code and confirm activation.
