FIDELITY ACCOUNT GUIDE

How to enable 2FA on Fidelity

Fidelity supports third-party authenticator codes for multi-factor authentication. You can connect an authenticator from your security settings on the website or through the Fidelity Investments mobile app.

Connect an authenticator in security settings

Sign in to Fidelity and open your security settings. Find the multi-factor authentication options and start connecting an authenticator app. You can also start from the Fidelity Investments mobile app.

Complete any identity check required before Fidelity displays the enrollment information.

Add Fidelity to Sign In

Use Sign In, our authenticator app, for codes on your iPhone.

  1. If the service displays an enrollment QR code on another screen, open Sign In and tap Add → Scan QR Code.
  2. If it offers a setup key instead, choose Add → Enter Setup Key. Label Service as Fidelity and Account with your account name, then paste the secret into Key.
  3. Review the entry and tap Add Account.
  4. Enter the current code back on Fidelity and finish its confirmation prompts.

Keep the setup key private. If you only have one iPhone and no manual key is offered, open the enrollment page on a second screen.

Prepare before changing phones

Connect your replacement authenticator before disposing of your old device. Keep your contact email and phone number current. Fidelity’s authenticator instructions do not describe a service-issued backup-code set, so do not rely on receiving one.

If you lose access to your phone or authenticator, contact Fidelity using the official support details on its website.

Other Fidelity verification methods

Fidelity also offers approval in its own mobile app and codes by text message or phone call. Availability depends on your settings and sign-in flow.

Only use Remember this device on a device you control. Fidelity can still require verification for some transactions or future sign-ins.

If a code does not work

Make sure the Fidelity entry in Sign In matches the account you are using. Wait for a fresh code, then enter it before it changes. If fresh codes keep failing, check that your iPhone uses automatic date and time.

Keep a working sign-in session and your recovery information available while resolving the problem. Adding an entry to Sign In does not finish enrollment: the service must accept a code and confirm activation.
